Issues related to Cambodia SWM The authorities and cities in Cambodia are responsible for the collection, transportation, storage, recycling and minimizing of the dumping of the solid wastes. Moreover, Cambodia has several guidelines and policies which are related to the solid waste management (World Bank 2013, 23). Nevertheless, there are some issues with the implementation of the programs and guidelines in urban centers in Cambodia. Proper strategies are always required to ensure that the solid waste management plans are well implemented to achieve the required results. Combination of the wastes is one key issue which faces the management authorities in Cambodia. The residents are able to combine these wastes during the collection of wastes and this makes it hard during the disposal or recycling time. Identified issues Negative issues Solid waste management in Cambodia is able to face several challenges and issues. Collection and disposal of solid waste is one of the major issues in Cambodia. The solid waste must be sorted out to ensure that the disposal is done perfectly (MoP 2008, 9). Different solid wastes must be disposed separately and therefore collection needs to be done separately. In addition, illegal dumping is still a key issue which is affecting Cambodia. This means that key and strategic places where the dumping has to be done (Heisler 2004, 17). The illegal dumping is an environmental threat to the countrys health. The illegal dumping has been a challenge and this has made some areas unfit for human settlement. Illegal dumping is a key issue which has been affecting and raising key issue including collecting of the solid wastes (Sandia National Laboratories 2010, 20). The illegal dumping leads to pollution in the water sources and therefore posing danger to public health. In addition, the Cambodia also lacks the sanitary landfills and this means that such wastes are disposed in open dumps. At the open dumps have challenges with the burning and this means that most of these wastes are scattered (Kum Sharp and Harnpornchai 2005, 5). The un-burnt wastes are a key real problem in Cambodia. The wastes lead to quick filling of the dumps and increases pollution of the neighboring areas. Proper handling of such wastes is required to ensure that environmental pollution in the country is controlled. Positive issues In addition, one of the important positive issue in solid waste management is Cambodia is that the main component of the solid wastes are organic (Troschinetz and Mihelcic 2009, 917). This means that the wastes can be used in making compost. This is able to align with the 3R of the country, which focuses on reduce, reuse, and recycle. Although the 3Rb is not popular, the country is adopting it for the waste management. In addition, this strategy is being applied since much of the solid wastes from the informal settlement in Cambodia are recycled (World Bank 2013, 9). The type of the municipal wastes is another issue which is positive in Cambodia. The solid wastes are able to provide an opportunity for Cambodia wastes into valuable resources which can help in increasing the income for the waste pickers. This will be able to reduce the poverty levels and contribute to the mitigation of the climate change and reduction of environmental pollution. Mitigating plans Mitigation of the issues is one of the key ways to ensure that the problems with solid wastes are solved. The use of the 3R is one of the mitigation strategies which the Cambodia government is looking at to ensure that the issues of waste are resolved (Cintri 2009, 4). 3R also ensures that financial saving a lot from the wastes is achieved. Recycling the wastes is beneficial to the area and different resources are achieved from the recycled and reused solid wastes. The 3R programs will therefore able to involve a recycling program to reduce the amount of wastes which are being disposed of. In addition, another mitigation plan is through the identification of the potential waste streams. Identifying these areas helps to generate a proper channel of dealing with the wastes and rectifying their problem before they reach the environment (Kum, Sharp and Harnpornchai 2005, 105). Designing ways to deal with the wastes at their sources makes sure that disposal problems are eliminated. This mitigation plan will ensure that the wastes are well sorted for the reuse or recycling purposes of disposal. Summary of design benefits and practicability The different aspects of the SWM design benefits include regulation of the solid waste management in order to enhance the safety and human protection of human health and conservation. The sub-decree is able to apply to all activities which are related to the disposal, storage, collection, transport, recycling and dumping of the solid wastes (Heisler 2004, 12). In addition, national strategy design on SWM includes different policies which are meant to enhance the regulation of solid wastes. In addition, 3R is highly practicable and ensures that the wastes are well collected and used for other uses. This ensures that pollution problem is highly reduced and clean environment is maintained. Waste management sites design strategy is another key benefit which can be used to reduce the scattering of the solid wastes. Movie Forest Gump Today I am doing my oral presentation on the Drama movie Forest Gump rated M15. (pause) This movie traces a fictitious life to portray and comment on significant social events in the united states of America, in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. The movie is about a man named Forest Gump who is seen by others to be stupid, but he has achieved more than any ordinary person. Forest, played by the award winning Tom Hanks, tells his life story while sitting at a bus stop and comparing it to a box of chocolates, because he doesn't know what's going to happen next While telling his story, the audience is taken back to when forest is a small boy in country Alabama USA. Because forest is classed as stupid and has braces put on his legs to fix his spine, the kids he attends school with think of him as a freak, except one, Forests love, Jenny. Jenny is a girl who lives with her sisters and their abusive father on a large corn farm. As Jenny and Forest get older, Jenny starts to take a different path to Forest and drifts in and out of his life through out the movie which, understandable creates heart ache for Forest. We are taken through Forests life as a College football star, which sees a lot of controversy. When Forest graduates college, he decides to join the army, where he meets his new found best friend Bubba. In 1963, Forest and Bubba are sent to fight in the Vietnam war. Under the watchful eye of Lieutenant Dan Taylor, Forest unsuspectingly becomes a hero. On his return to America, Forest is awarded the congressional medal that is presented by President Nixion. This is one of my favourite scenes because this scene show Forests carefree personality and his sensibility all though at times both are challenged. SHOW TAPE!! While Forest was injured during the war, he takes up the game ping pong and becomes a champion. With the money made from his success, he buys a fishing boat and becomes a shrimp mastermind along with the help of Lieutenant Dan. One day after Jenny has left Forests life once again, he decides he wants to go for a run. He tells himself he will run to the next county but doesn't stop, infact he doesn't stop until 3 and a half years later. Through out this movie there are twists that are unsuspected, including the ending which will bring a tear to anybody's eye. (pause) Whilst watching this movie I came across a couple of morals. The strongest one I got was that no matter what you dream is keep trying and it will be within reach. This Memorable movie was produced by Wendy Finerman, Steve Tisch and Steve starkey. Although their names are not well known as producers they put all there talent into this movie, along with the help of the director Robert Zemeckis. Pearl Harbor Battle Analysis Essay On a pleasant and beautiful Sunday, December 7, 1984, Japan implemented a surprise attack on the US Naval Base in Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii which gave United States a door to enter into World War II. Even though Japan did not follow through with the attack causing the third wave of bombers to break contact from dropping bombs to finish off the rest of the fleet docking in Pearl Harbor, it was a well prepared, and carefully orchestrated attack on the Americans because the Japanese followed almost all the nine Principles of War. However there was one principle that the Japanese did not executed causing them to surrender later on in World War II. There are nine Principles of War, that is; unity of command, mass, objective, offensive, surprise, economy of force, maneuver, and security. The attack include massconcentrating the combat power at the decisive place and time. The objective was clear and directed every military operation towards a clearly defined, decisive attainable objective. The attack was clearly offensive where it seize, retained, and exploited the initiatives. Surprise was the definitely the most important principle used striking Pearl Harbor on a given time when it was unprepared. Economy of force was allocated to the wave of attacks where essential combat power was given as a secondary effort. The maneuvers were clearly executed where Japan placed United States in a position of disadvantage through the flexibility application of combat power. There was unity of command in which the Japanese ensured each objective had a responsible commander. Unity of command was visible within the Japanese fleet. The commander for the December 7th 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor was Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (PeopleJapan, ). Yamamoto was responsible for the combined Japanese fleet where he devised the strategy for the attack, and because of his careful, organized, and educated planing, Pearl Harbor was almost fully destroyed. Under Yamamoto is Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumoto who was in command of the First Air Fleet. Nagamuto relied heavily on the experience of his subordinates Comander Minoru Genda, and Rear Admiral Ryunosuke Kusaka. â€Å"No one can truly understand what happened at Pearl Harbor without at least a nodding acquantance with these men, for the plan’s inception, preparation, execution, and stunning success were shaped by the personalities and experience of these men† (Goldstein, 1991). By element of mass with in the nine Principles of War, the Japanese attack forces was well equipped for the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Japan understands that their country cannot defeat United Staes in a â€Å"conventional war, lacking as it did sufficient man power and raw materials (notably oil) for such a sustained effort however Japan was able to put together combined fleet large enough to go toe to toe with the United States Navy in Hawaii† (Long, 2007). Japanese air attack forces consisted of six carriers named Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Shokaku, and Zuikaku. Support forces consisted of two battleship and two heavy cruisers known as Tone and Chikuma. Screening forces consisted of one light cruiser and nine destroyers named Akuma. Patrol forces had three submarines. In addition, the supply forces ha eight oilers. Together these combined fleet was named the Kido Butai, or task force which was the largest number of aircraft carriers ever to operate togeth er (Carlisle, 114). Admiral Yamamoto and the Kido Fleet’s objective was to destroy the naval ships in Pearl Harbor and knock out the U.S. Pacific Fleet. In retrospect, this attack is also an offensive attack as a significant Japanese fighting force so that the Americans could not oppose on Japan’s conquest of South East Asia and the Pacific Islands. Another reason for the attack is because President Roosevelt had banned all exports of scrap iron, steel and oil to Japan. The reason for the embargo was the Japanese invasion of China. Japan had lost more than 90% of its oil supply (Carlisle, 2006). The economic isolation crippled their economy and military. In addition, Japan were keen on expanding their empire and had to make a decision between surrendering or going to war with the United States. Lastly, United States had not yet entered the Second World War, because they were still reeling from depression due to the First World War. United States did, however, still possess the strongest naval fleets. In that perspective, the Japanese were almost as strong as the American navy. As time passed, America favored more and more towards joining the war. The Japanese anticipated a full-blown naval war with America and therefore, decided to act first by bombing Pearl Harbor which was a key terrain feature in the Pacific due to it’s massive and deep harbor for naval ships. The element of economy of force was also present during the attack on Pearl Harbor. This allowed Japans zero bomber to allocate minimum essential combat power towards the attack. With the economy of force, the element of maneuver also played abig role towards the raid. There were two aerial attack waves, totaling 353 aircraft that was launched from the six Japanese aircraft carriers. In actuality, Admiral Yamamoto’s plans consisted of three waves of attack. The first wave of attacked was launched at 0740 with 163 aircrafts that was coming from the North Shore. Their objective was to destroy airfields at Wheeler, Ewa, Hickam, and Pearl Harbor. The second wave was launched an hour later to the Windward side of the island with 167 aircraft bombers. Their mission was also to destroy airfields in Kaneohe and Bellows, Hickam, and Pearl Harbor. Admiral Yamamoto called off the third wave because he believed the second strike had essentially satisfied the main objective of his mission which was to cripple United States Pacific Fleet. In addition Admiral Yamamoto did not wish to risk further losses. With Admiral Yamamoto’s careful planning of the Pearl Harbor attack, Japan was successful on completing their objective in the Pacific by destroying the Naval fleet. However, they failed to follow through with the element of security. Security states that Japan should have never permitted United States from acquiring an unexpected advantage. With Admiral Yamamoto calling off the third wave, this allowed United States to get back up on its feet. Japan may have won the battle on Pearl Harbor, however that decision â€Å"woke up the sleeping giant† causing Japan to surrender the war to the Americans. The biggest impact on the Japanese attack was the element of surprise which was Japans key tactic on Pearl Harbor and other military bases on Oahu that struck Americans as a â€Å"dastardly attack† â€Å"stab in the back.† On December 7th, 1941, everyone went about their daily routine. Naval and military commands in Hawaii did not suspect that this day would be the day they would get a huge surprise by getting attacked. Washington and Honolulu were aware of the Japanese threats to attack areas in Southeast Asia but they didn’t think a surprise attack at Pearl Harbor was in the plans. The commands in Washington and Honolulu had no idea because based on their intelligence they received mostly from U.S radio intelligence and diplomatic code breaking, the intelligence received told them that the Japanese were moving south and they weren’t going to be in â€Å"danger†. Washington received intelligence from the office of naval intelligence a few hours before the attack indicating that the all of Japan’s fleet carriers were in their home waters. This was one way how the Japanese completely fooled and the U.S. intelligence and surprised them with a damaging attack on Pearl Harbor and other military installations. Sunday mornings are normally a time of leisure for military personnel, and during this time, especially in the morning, some are still asleep, or at church with their families. With the Japanese knowing this, this was the best time to launch their surprise attack because they knew people would not be able to respond to the attacks quick enough to fight back and it would be the perfect opportunity to destroy all of their fleets and aircrafts Japan’s careful and well orchestrated attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, destroyed almost all the American Naval fleet in the Pacific. This allowed Japan to continue its imperialism towards Southeast Asian without United States interference. Even when Japan failed to follow through with the element of security towards United States, they still followed almost all the nine Principles of War in order for them to have a successful raid. The third wave of attack could have the destroyed the fuel storage, maintenance, and dry dock facilities that would have crippled the U.S. Pacific Fleet far more seriously than the loss of its battleships. Kidneys   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In vertebrates, kidneys are the two major organs of excretion. Excess water, toxic waste products of metabolism such as urea, uric acid, and inorganic salts are disposed of by kidneys in the form of urine. Kidneys are also largely responsible for maintaining the water balance of the body and the pH of the blood. Kidneys play important roles in other bodily functions, such as releasing the erythropoietin protein, and helping to control blood pressure.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Kidneys are paired, reddish-brown, bean-shaped structures. They are about eleven centimeters long. Kidneys are located on each side of spine, just above the waist. They are loosely held in place by a mass of fat and two layers of fibrous tissue. It is believed that the kidney first evolved in the original vertebrates where freshwater organisms needed some means of pumping water from the body. The kidney became adept at reabsorbing glucose, salts, and other materials which would have been lost if simply pumped out of the body by a simple organ.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The cut surface of the kidney reveals two distinct areas: the cortex- a dark band along the outer border, about one centimeter in thickness, and the inner medulla. The medulla is divided into 8 to 18 cone-shaped masses of tissue named renal pyramids. The apex of each pyramid, the papilla, extends into the renal pelvis, through which urine is released from the kidney tissue. The cortex arches over the bases of the pyramids (cortical arches) and extends down between each pyramid as the renal columns.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Urine passes through the body in a fairly complex way. The initial site of urine production in the body is the glomerus. The arterial blood pressure drives a filtrate of plasma containing salts, glucose, amino acids, and nitrogenous wastes such as urea and a small amount of ammonia through the glomerus. Proteins and fats are filtered out of the plasma, to remain in the normal blood stream. The plasma is now called glorular filtrate. One-hundred to one-hundred-forty milliliters of this filtrate are formed each minute!   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The filtrate passes along a convoluted tibule. The majority of the water content and some of the dissolved materials are reabsorbed through the walls of the tibule and back into the blood. Water, sodium, chloride, bicarbonate, and all glucose are reabsorbed into the bloodstream, yet products such as urea and ammonia remain in the tibule. Night markets are commonly known as Pasar Malam by the locals, which literally means night market, â€Å"pasar† being related to â€Å"bazaar† in Persian or also the meaning â€Å"market† in Malay, and â€Å"malam† meaning â€Å"night†. A pasar malam is a street market in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia that opens in the evening, usually in residential neighbourhoods.WHAT IS IN THE NIGHT MARKET Night market brings together a collection of stalls that usually sell goods such as fruit, vegetables, snacks, toys, clothes, movie discs and ornaments at cheap or at least reasonable prices. A night market often takes place only one to a few days of the week, as the traders rotate around different neighbourhoods on d ifferent days of the week. Haggling over prices is a common practice at such markets. WHY PEOPLE LIKE TO GO NIGHT MARKET Night markets or night bazaars are street markets which operate at night.Most of the people like to go night markets because of convenience, cheaper price of items, shop for leisure, temptation of local food where you might not get it from restaurants, and strolling. NIGHT MARKET IN MALAYSIA The good thing of night market at Malaysia is, you can see the night market’s stalls are selling different things by our main three ethnics, which are Malay, Chinese and Indian. This is one of the reasons why more and more tourists start to hit the night market at Malaysia, as they are able to see the culture of Malaysia, goes with the traditional food from different races.As we are pacing up the trend of advanced technology of lifestyle, same goes as the demand of food. A combination of traditional Malay food in the modern life, we have even more tasty delicious food yet maintaining the traditional taste of recipes when we pay a visit to the Malay night markets. During the olden days at the Malay food stalls, most of them are just selling the traditional food such as satay, nasi lemak, kuih, spicy rendang chicken, lemang goes with the delicious rendang beef. Normally the traders will cook at home or restaurants first, and then only they do food packing and sell to the customers.Some Malay tra ders do also sell some Chinese or Indian concept of food. For example, you can see some Malays are selling ‘yong tau fu’ or ‘muruku’. SITUATION AT NIGHT MARKET Night market is not a strange place for today's city life. It is almost as same as the wet market. The difference is the market starts in the evening whereas the wet market starts in the morning. Besides that, only every Monday and Wednesday, the place is swarmed with people. On other days, the field is just gathered by a few cows grazing on the coarse grass. Night market is a spectacular and colourful market.From one end to the other, one can see a dense mass of human heads moving about restlessly under the bright neon lights of the hand-carts and stalls. These temporary stalls sell all manners of useful household goods, food and drinks. Night market is a colourful place. There are many types of fruit and vegetables, such as red tomatoes, orange carrots, green capsicums, etc, which are sold. There a re all kinds of clothes and materials too. There are different kinds of coloured plastic goods and so on. All of them add up to a marvellous view under the bright moonlight.The field at the night market is crowded by people from all walks of life. Cars spill over everywhere from the parking area to the roadsides. In such condition, only the early birds will get parking spaces. Motorcycles and bicycles going in and out. The crowds of people are walking about and the loaded carts on the middle of the path make it even more difficult to move. It is closed to traffic jam during peak hours in town. It seems like the whole community is there. Furthermore, it is also a noisy place. All around, customers and hawkers are bargaining.The din is earshattering. Nevertheless, everyone is in good mood. The shouting and bargaining are enjoyed by both customers and hawkers. â€Å"Apples! Four for $1! Cheap sale! † come the cries of one hawker. Then another hawker suddenly cries, â€Å"Apples ! Five for $1! Come on! Cheap sale! Cheap sale! † Obviously, there are already a number of people examining the fruits. There are people laughing and children crying. Just two stalls away, the loud music of cd vendors comes along cheering up the situation. The stall is also brightly illuminated. No doubt, it is doing a roaring business.Then a few stalls away, traditional medicine sellers promote their medicine. They use a microphone to speak and a loudspeaker to spread their voice. Becauseof that, a big crowd of customers will take a look and buy their products. All of that bring a festive atmosphere in the night market. There are loud and happy music like clashing ofcymbals and beating of drums, children's laughter, hawkers' call and teenagers' giggling. Everyone is in a holiday mood – enjoying the tasty food and drinks and unwinding after a hard day's work. By about 9 p. m. awkers begin to pack their things into vans. Some of them remain to get some last minute sellin g done. â€Å"$1 only, Madam! This is the last one. I sold for $2 just now but I want to go home now. † In this way, many sales transactions are closed. Furthermore, most vendors have a hard life, trying to make both ends meet. They really need to make some profits each night. Although the night market is very crowded and noisy, but the hawkers and customers will come back again and again because the night market is where things are cheaper as there are no middlemen to make a profit for themselves.

We should expand our Circle of Influences not reduce it and focus on expanding our Circle of Concerns because proactive people do focus their efforts in the Circle of Influences. Insights: I have come to realized that self-awareness is very essential for us, human beings. It is a gift from our Creator that we should cherish and a possession that we should be proud of. It is the unique trait that separates us from animals. Because of this, we always have the freedom to choose, the power to choose the right response in a particular stimulus. Let’s take Frankl’s story as an inspiration. We must learn how to make difference. We must stand with our own beliefs.
